I have tested and used both redhat and sled and came to the conclusion that they are not as well developed as Ubuntu. Ubuntu needs to be an option on all Dell PCs is my opinion--both corporate and consumer. I would be happy to discuss why at the Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit next week in Austin, Texas. Unfortunately, we did not have all the appropriate drivers and the system is under performing (it is a Extreme 7900, 4 Gb, 200Gb HD version with WUXGA monitor).

We use it for modelling reaction of biodiversity to climate change "on the go". It travels often.

Can you hep uslp us in any way, maybe by providing us with the drivers, particularly for the modem, graphic card and wireless? The rpm would be absolutely fine, we would provide the conversion.

The laptop was bought with full support (3 years).

Best Regards
--
CT

Global Climate Change and Biodiversity
Area 18,Department of Biology
University of York, York, YO10 5YW, UK
Phone: + 44 (0) 1904 328645, E-mail: ct529@york.ac.uk
