We have seen great success with our Cabooble application in the short time we have launched the software as an SaaS model. Essentially researchers can launch multi-site projects from our website in a matter of minutes. Currently we have five universities using the software for Traumatic Brain Injury Research and growing. Swink hopes to advance the speed and scope of research by leveraging online communities.

re: Harnessing Online Communities to Further Medical Research

One technology area that has dramatically impacted healthcare is portable computers and handhelds. Advances in tablet computers are driving efficiencies and improvements in patient care and enabling our physicians to be more productive and provide high-quality care.

We deployed an EMR system four years ago using tablet computers, and have since upgraded to the Latitude XT systems. We are thrilled and our doctors are very happy with the improvement. Moving from an old slate model to the new Dell convertible tablets has been one of the biggest technological improvements of the year so far.

re: Harnessing Online Communities to Further Medical Research

The ability to collaborate for researchers is critical to the success of drug discovery in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. More and more, biologists, chemists, clinical researchers, and other scientists must cross traditional scientific boundaries to get the expertise they need to be successful in the new world of biological science.
