Just got my 1530 (2.6, 4 gig, wuxga on 8600m gt, 320 gig/7200 rpm) and I can't see why anyone would complain.

Playing COD4 right now in 1900x1200 glory...this is a HUGE upgrade from my XPS M140.

You guys must just be spoilt...lubs my new XPS lappy.

got a xps 1530 over a month ago, it took over 35 days to get it, speakers are horrible, the finger print dose not work, the notebook has a scratch, finally spoke to customer service and got a second noetebook, it also riddeled with problems. Returned both notebooks and going with sony.

i just purchased an xps 1530, it took over a month to get it, what a disappointment, once i got it the speakers were not working, the finger print was not working and the notebook had a slight scratch on it, now comes customer support ( what a joke, i mean what a joke). Everytime i called, it took them about 6 to 8 transfers to get me to the correct dept, finally i was able to get a replacement notebook, and again this time the fan was not working, the finger print was not working, frankly i think there is nothing special about dell or nothing special about the xps 1530.

I ordered a Dell XPS m1530 on July 7th or somewhere around that Date. I am not supposed to receive this computer until August 18th. First, this is a large amount of time to construct one notebook. Second, I start college that day and I need the capabilities then. I go to school 4 hours away from my house. Why must it take so long to ship one computer? The online chatting with the Technical Service was awesome and we did all the "paperwork" then. Why does it take a month and a day to construct and ship it?

hi,i want to know :

1: why LED screen is not available in red color of 1530 when i try to costumize my xps in dell.usa website?also 250 GB HDD with 7200 rpm & finger print? (but all of them r available in black color)

2: 9-cell battery is 154$ but 6-cell is 199$! and changing 6-cell with 9 cell in our purchase costs 169$(so instead of changing 6 with 9 in selected laptop,we can buy with 6-cell and puchase an additional 9-cell with 154$ more payment and then we have one 6-cell battery more with 199+169-154=214 saving money!!!!!!!)

3: will you sell LEDs in resolution more than 1440 with HD technology & 320 GB HDD in 7200 rpm in XPS M1530 & 512 MB 8600 VGA?

The XPS1530 is great, but there is no driver for XP in dell website.

I bought XPS M1530 last month for RM5509 with the following specification,

Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB 2M L2 Cache)
2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm, for XPS M1530
15.4 inch Wide Screen WXGA TrueLife LCD with 2.0 MP Camera
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

Found out the hard way that,

The speakers are terrible
Audio chipset does not offer much (unlike other brands)
Audio played with Dell Media Direct and Windows Media Player is haunted by choppy/skipping problem. Dell technician confirmed the problem with their test unit, blaming the problem on Vista
Try to make up with the low quality speakers by using the provided Creative earphones but is haunted by the hissing sound. The hissing sound is there the moment the laptop is switched on. Muting the sound also produces hissing sound.
Had an on-site engineer replaced speakers but leaved the beautiful laptop with scratches and chipped. Replaced dashboard panel (scratched) after some complaint and one of the button was not working after replacement.
Had the laptop replaced with a new replacement unit only to find that the paint is chipped and the top case is deformed.
Returned the system for refund after a few more complaint.

Anyway, I will definitely reorder another XPS M1530 if the following are offered:

Instead of using SigmaTel chipset for the audio, change it to some other chipset like Realtek
Improve the speakers quality
Improve the quality control at the factory (no more defect)

I'm actually in need of a new laptop and is trying my best not to get another brand. Will be waiting for another 1 or 2 months, or will definitely go for Acer 5920G which is about RM700 cheaper (I'm living in Malaysia) with similar specification plus the following exta

Intel® Core™2 Duo mobile processor T7500 (4MB L2 cache, 2.2GHz, 800MHz FSB)
Surround speakers with sub woofer
No hissing sound with the earphones (I tried the earphones provided by Dell with my friend's unit)
Dolby®-certified surround sound system
Extra 1 USB port
No skipping/choppy audio during playback

The cons of Acer 5920G compared to Dell XPS M1530

Heavier by about 0.4kg
Thicker
Touchpad is not as good

As far as I can see, it would be stupid for any Malaysian to buy Dell XPS M1530 when Acer offers better specification and is cheaper.
