I commend Dell for doing the right thing, but why is it that a company feels that they have to brag about actually doing the right thing? Why do we have to make up buzz words, catch phrases, and special days? Why do we have to wear special ribbons on our shirts and sing Kumbaya together? If you are worried about the environment, why are you making XPS systems that are like SUV's of the computer world? They weigh a ton, suck down energy, and waste aluminum and plastic.

I got all warm and tingly inside when I read this post! Monday will mark my first day as a new Dell employee, and it's SO nice to know I'll be part of a company willing to take a positive stance like this. I don't know about you, but I'm heading over to help plant some trees... Great job Dell - keep setting the bar higher!

Exactly, John. I applaud Dell for taking environmental issues seriously. That's why I've already ordered 2 Dell PC's this year and I'll be ordering another one next year when Nehalem is released. Rock on, Dell!

Come on folks. "Global Ethics Day"? You can't see right through that? Give me a break. Every day should be "ethics" day. Nothing stops you from planting a tree without the help of Dell either. Give me a break.

I am not going to state either way as to what I believe politically but I think you can find on both sides of the aisle can find a conservationist mindset (that's not so-called "environmentalism"). No one party owns the conservation mindset.

What Dell is doing here is a superb thing. It is corporate activism pure and simple. At the same time they're helping address an important issue. Whether or not you think there is signficant climate change, we should all be mindful of our impact on the world around us and do our best to conserve our resources whereever and whenever possible.

I am very proud of Dell for taking this first step into making the world a better place to live in. This is something every tech company should do.

It takes some kind of idiot to think that a fortune 50 computer company is writing it's blogs for democrats. You must not read much. If you did you'd see Michael Dell's contributions to the REPUBLICAN PARTY. Just for the record, all of these things are great. Trying to do the best we can to preserve the only place we have to live is a great idea. Great job Dell.
