I think it's about due time that the media is brought into this mess.

I have an desktop Dimension E521 running Windows Vista.

I'm a musician and needing to work on multitrack recording, all this would have been perfectly fine on my XPS400 (XP), but now I find out Dell has disabled 'stereo mixing' functionality on my newer machine?!?

This is absurd, and unacceptable. So far, from all the research I have been doing, Dell has done NOTHING to rectify this problem.

Oh, but the Sound Blaster Audigy MB 'upgrade' from the disfunctional and INCOMPLETE SigmaTel HD Codec is supposed to be 'free'?

RIGHT...

That was almost a year ago now. I bet Lionel has found a job with a more reliable company since then.

I already paid for my computer, I should not have to pay further to get the functionality I was assured I would get with this purchase. I wonder what the Better Business Bureau would have to say about this type of business practice?

Furthermore, I don't even know if purchasing a new soundcard (NOT from DELL) would fix this problem, but again, WHY should I buy a new soundcard when all the built-in cards until NOW have had fully functioning mixing capabilities?

WE'RE ALL DEMANDING SOME KIND OF FIX!

I'd like to be able to use my PC as intended, the ports are all there on my card, so please enable the FULL functions on the SigmaTel HD Codec as we PAID for it!!!

If anyone has any kind of information on how to bypass this idiotic problem, PLEASE reply!

re: Sound Blaster Audigy MB Software Download Coming Soon

I read this page and could not find the fix for my situtaion.

I have a Dell XPS 400, with Window XP Media Center 2005. The hard drive crashed so i replace the hard drive.

I reinstalled the OS and the drivers using dell OS recovery and resource disks.

The card i have is the Sound Blaster Audigy MP3. It has 6 mini-din input and a firewire connection.

In Device Manager, there were a yellow question mark for PCI input, PCI simple controller.

Dell assist me with installing the drivers, but did not stayed on the phone to acutally hear the speakers. When i called back, they said the PC is out of warranty and i have to pay a fee for further tech support. :(

Anyway, i am not hearing any sound.
I am quite dissapointed with DELL's audio/sound features. One of my hobbies is to record articles either from the web or from my own voice with a mic, and I use isound pro and ever since I've installed it on my DELL Inspiron 1720 (Vista) with the awful Sigma Tel sound card, I haven't been able to run this isound properly, resorting to doing so on my old XP/hybrid desktop. On the website for isound (http://www.abyssmedia.com/mp3recorder/vista-faq.shtml) they show some steps on how to configure this on Vista systems, however (if you check the link) the "Stereo Mix" option that is supposed to appear on the control panel sound window doesn't appear. I also checked various sites looking for drivers to see if i could solve this issue but nothing happens. I actually tried doig all this a few months ago but gave up, and tried again this week but obviously it's all been unsuccessful.

I definitely would NOT recommend DELL for someone who works with audio. Anyway, if there is a solution, I'd like to know. If there is someone who can post a REAL and DETAILED solution to this issue it would be really appreciated by all the people who have this problem.

Thanks.
