Checking in from E3

E3 Entry

Day one at E3 was a blur. Along with our announcement about the launch of the M17x I embedded the video for in my last post, Microsoft revealed it was working on a controller-less interface for the Xbox 360, Nintendo announced several new games in development including a new Metroid title (about time), and Bioware unveiled the newest amazing trailer for its upcoming Star Wars MMORPG (ZOMG!). There was a lot going on. For a great rundown of the biggest buzz, I recommend this Time/CNN article.

Day two at the Alienware booth was bustling with excitement. People signed up in droves for their chance to win the new M17x, and the yet to be released curved Alienware monitor attracted lots of gawkers. It certainly didn't hurt that the curved monitor was displaying a sneak peak of the heavily anticipated game Jumpgate Evolution. This amazing display fills the gamers’ field of view with an impressive 2880 x 900 pixels of uninterrupted resolution. I tried to get the product guys to box it up so I could take it home with me, but they weren't playing along.

To add to the excitement, our Alienware agents did a series of "Agent intercepts" with VIP guests. The agents met our guests at the entrance of the hall, and in true MIB fashion surrounded the guests and cleared a path through the inquisitive crowd all the way to the Alienware booth. Our most famous guest given the Agent VIP treatment was Raekwon from the Wu-Tang Clan. Raekwon took some time to check out all the great games being demonstrated on the Alienware systems after arriving at the booth. I got a picture of him playing the PC port for the latest Street Fighter, a game which should release in a few months.

I was able to take a little time to go through the convention and snap a few photos of the shineys which caught my eye. This is one of the most spectacular gadget/game expos in the world, so I kind of felt like a crow in a jewelry store. There was way too much to see, but as I upload the photos on Dell's Flickr page that you can see here.

Tomorrow I should have more time to actually get my hands on some of these great new games. In my next post, I'll give a rundown of what I tried and what my impressions of each title were. Stay tuned!

E3 is officially over, and now that the dust has cleared a bit I can take a few moments to recap the
