New Vostro Laptops designed to increase productivity and security

Today Dell introduces the newest Vostro laptops, based on customer feedback and the needs of small business in the current economy. The redesigned laptops include the 13.3-inch Vostro 1320, the 15.4-inch Vostro 1520, and the 17-inch Vostro 1720 (You can check out product images here on our Flickr Page). In addition, the new Vostro laptops include free Dell Video Chat software helps small businesses survive budget crunch by replacing travel with technology. Products are available today in North America and select South American countries, followed by Europe, Middle East and Africa on April 7, and select Asian countries in May. In the vlog below, Alison Gardner, Dell lead for Vostro product planning, explains how customers were directly involved in the redesign and how the newest Vostro laptops help small businesses easily increase productivity, reliability and enhance security.

Funny that when asked about developing the product with the input of customers, IdeaStorm wasn't mentioned once.

jervis - you make a good point that IdeaStorm was missed in the vlog when it should have been mentioned.  Especially as one of your ideas was implemented per this launch!

There should be an option of having no trialware on all computers

Wow this is not so good.. It seems like the slot loaded DVD ROMs are gone in favor for the old tray loading ones. Also doesn’t seem like the hirez screen options are there but those are probably coming in time. Not any thinner or lighter. Not sure what this update was for really other then the option for more than 4Gigs of ram which I'm not sure many people will use.

@christiankelly - Thanks for the feedback. With every new generation of laptops, including the new Vostros, Dell works to make laptops thinner and lighter. As for the screen options, the new line of Vostros do give customers the option to choose either WXGA Anti-Glare Display or TrueLifeTM without any additional costs. Right now there are not additional screen size options, but if you are interested in higher resolution laptop screens, you can check out our latest Latitudes.
