Steve Harvey: The Next Big Idea

When we launched IdeaStorm in January 2007, it was well-received by our customers. Since then, the community has submitted over 9,000 ideas and shared more than 70,000 comments. Up to this point, besides talking about it from a social media perspective, we haven't advertised IdeaStorm to a wide audience.

Today, we're starting to do that by working with comedian and successful talk show host Steve Harvey. His radio show, The Steve Harvey Morning Show attracts millions of listeners every day. He's someone who built a career on a big idea. Take a look at this video to hear more about that from him.

You'll be hearing from more people like Steve in the future on this topic. Dell understands the importance of your ideas and want to encourage you to keep sending them to IdeaStorm so we can continue to improve our products and services. There are a lot of you who do that on a regular basis, and we appreciate your participation. If you are new to IdeaStorm, we invite you to spend a few minutes there to share your thoughts on the next big idea.

I think that you should make a computer that comes with its own magnetic strip to swip your debit or credit card when making purchases online. Instead of typing this infomation in, it will already be available when you swipe your card. This feature should also be included on laptops also.

Thanks for taking the time to read my next big ideal.

I believe the next great idea is creation of web pages by voice activation, by simply speaking the dimensions and details of each section to the computer.  Another great idea would be automobile cameras which record, similar to the police officer dash cameras. These could help capture thieves or be used as evidence in accident cases.

Who the heck is Steve Harvey?  I thought this was a global website from a global company?

Why do we keep seeing announcemounts, deals, offers, etc on a global website which are only relevant to US customers?

While I like that Dell is advertising the site it would have been a good idea to fix IdeaStorm FIRST.  They also should do a better job of explaining the site to new people.  This goes back to my suggestion of a new home page for IdeaStorm.

My question is can you post an idea if you have a patent pending?

After reading the Ideastorm Terms of Service agreement, I became reluctant about posting my idea.  It seems like as the inventor you are giving up your rights for $1,000.00.

mcstretch-  Feel free to email me and we can discuss your question about your idea.  Dawn_Lacallade@dell.com

he had no clue what he was talking about or what ideastorm is truly designed to do. this is another grand idea from dell's marketing department... good god.

We should add Paul Harvey as well.

Can the idea be of any sort or mainly geared towards electronics, because I have an idea for a car.

Angelia: Let me correct my original response. We are looking for ideas that will help Dell improve the products and services that we offer to customers.

An idea about a car itself is not something we can act on, but a technology idea that integrates media playback (digital music or digital video for example) into a car might be worth sharing.

Take a look at the categories on www.ideastorm.com to get a better idea of the kinds of ideas that people share.

"We're sorry, this video is no longer available."  That's all I'm getting.

jervis961 I fixed that earlier this morning. Thanks for the heads up.
