XPS One Design

I mentioned a few design-related things regarding the XPS One in my blog post from earlier this week. However, I figured that some of you out there would want to hear about it from Brian Leonard—he's the lead designer behind the product.

In this vlog, Brian talks about some of the design goals, and discusses how the XPS One design may influence our forthcoming products.

You should have put him in a polo or t-shirt.

I examined the product in a preview and on the Dell website.  Found it interesting, but configuration-options-shy.  This blog confirmed my opinion that the XPS One, in its present limited configuration, is mostly "form over function".  Certainly, it looks cool, but I would also like to have more flexibility in configuring the machine.

A haircut you could set your watch to and a generic white short sleeved shirt. Ah yes the good people at Dell putting industrial back in industrial design. I'm not saying you should go the Apple pseudo beatnik route either, but come on! Get one of the girls from HR, they always seem to lest their best, to jazz the presenters up a little before filming, otherwise Dell product will never lose the image of being somewhat dull compared to others. This image of dull designers = dull products isn't just IMHO, but it's there nevertheless.

P.S the XPS One looks great :)

P.P.S I think I'll wait for XPS One Rev 2 - hopefully it will have a 24" screen, be 1080P compliant and have a snappier graphics option = me getting one.
