I received Vista Ultimate directly from the Microsoft store and upgraded my son's XPS 1210. Now the sound stuff (Audigy HD) is completely broken. I get "object not found" errors when I try to install updated drivers, and the Sigmatel stuff doesn't show up in the Device Manager or under Install/Remove Applications. All we get are beeps from the internal speaker.

My son's ready to go back to XP. Can anyone at Dell help with this?

This is especially frustrating because I did all the Dell updates before updating the OS and updated the  Vista drivers after installing.

Hi, folks. My son has a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop and he's advancing quite fast in the music-creation field. He can't afford a new PC right now but he did just upgrade his music production software to some professional package (Cubase, as I recall). Now he's interested in upgrading the Inspiron's sound card. The Inspiron has integrated sound. I told him he could probably find a higher quality USB 2.0 outboard sound card that would work with the system but first, of course, we need to be sure there's a way to deactivate the motherboard-based sound card.

I realize what he really needs to do is upgrade his computer, but as I said, that will have to happen later. Any suggestions or insights appreciated.

i forgot the password to my laptop u know when u first turn on the computer and then the thing to put the pass comes up and i forgot it so can u tell me how to get it back

Casey Cook - I have the same issue as you. I have an AV switching unit that takes all the inputs from my games consoles. This is then fed to my new E520 on line in. I can record the input but can't hear it real-time. If I switch back to the XP driver, it works but only on the front 2 speakers - I purchased a 5.1 surround sound system.

I've been onto DELL but had to stop as they were a) Winding me up by completely patronising me - I'm an engineer for god's sake and b)  the advice I was getting was pretty useless as I'd already gone through the process of elimination.

In short, I believe it's the driver. It's not my AV switching unit (as DELL tried to make out and adsolve themselves of responsibility) as I get the sound out with the XP driver. That would also suggest that it's not the hardware card.

It would seem that the line in signal is not getting piped through to line out in the driver S/W. I had to stop investigating this any further as I was spending all my evenings trying every trick that I could.

In short, I am pretty fed up. I have always bought DELL and never had any problems to date but this issue is a joke. And no amount of carefully worded get-out's (audio monitoring is an unsupported feature) is acceptable. We are not asking for anything special here. I have already removed a 5.1 system from my games room to make way for my new 5.1 DELL. I bought it as the media hub and fully expected that I would be able to get the sound from my xbox 360, PS-2, Wii etc etc piped through it.

If anyone has any ideas..perhaps we all go for a class action suit against DELL because this is shoddy. The question has to be : Is what we are asking for based on previous history a reasonable expectation when purchasing a new system. The answer has to be yes.

Come on DELL. Sort this out.

So any answers to a x64 version of this software?  When I try to install the 32 vista version it gives me the same error Nigol Jones is having (Audio drivers not found, please install your Audio Drivers before running this setup program).

Dell! dell! what is dell doing with this sound issue? Even new ones have sound issues.I hope dell can infer what option that leaves us with.

I have the same proble.  Dimesion 9150, upgraded to Vista, no sound.  I have tried the Upgrade issued by Dell (all 78MB of it!), but when trying to install it requires an activation key which I'm supposed to pay for.  Would Dell please let me know the activation key.

Thanks

Hey,

I have a similar problem. I have a Dell XPS 410 system with a widescreen monitor that has multiple inputs. I have my Xbox 360 hooked up to the monitor on a secondary input and have all the cables to connect the 360 to the "Line In" on the back of my computer so as to run sound through my speakers. I tried Mr. Addis's solution but when I search for the EnableInputMonitor file, nothing is found. Help?

Dell Dimension 9200 Quadcore Vista, brand new out of the box with integrated Audigy "software edition"

The thing wouldn't make a sound.

All the drivers were up to date, Vista system check said running normally. Spent 12 am to 2:30 am or so on the phone with Dell technical - who evidently had never heard of this issue. Ended up running all kinds of diagnostics, updating drivers again etc. And when we were finished the first battery of "fixes", it now failed to detect any sound system at all through the control panel. Baffled the technician - she escalated it several times.

Finally they gave up and asked to revert to the factory image to start over again. Only this time, when the factory image was loaded, it STILL failed to detect any sound software, as it had detected previously.

It's getting shipped back on Monday to try again. If it's not right the second time, I'm shipping it back, getting a refund, and trying a different vendor whether or not it's a higher price.

Have tried searching the registry for 'EnableInputMonitor' etc. but it doesnt appear to exist. Have also tried installing other drivers though Vista doesnt appear to like them.  Downloaded a modded ini file but can't figure out what to do with it.

All I need is to be able to hear my own voice when chatting on skype with my headset on!

Any other ideas anyone..?

I'm using Sigmatel Major-C on an Inspiron 1521 with Vista Home Premium 32bit

Hey Caysee,

I too am having the same problem with being able to play music in chat rooms. I have not been able to find anyone who can help me with understand the problem. playing music in chat rooms. It's ver frustrating since I just purchased the Dell Inspiron 9300 Pentium M a few months ago. I have Sound Blaster Audigy Advance Mb sounjd card but nothing works. A Dell tech told me that I would need to purchase a NEW sound card that would support the feature of playing music in chat rooms.I don't understand why I have to buy a new sound card and this computer is only 3 months old and came with a sound card pre installed. It's strange that I was able to play in chat rooms on my laptop (it has XP) but now with the new one I cannot. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME.... THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE!!!

So, i have an e1705 that came with XP and an Audigy CD for XP. I then upgraded to Vista (fresh install) home premium and now I need the Vista CD to install the Audigy and then the upgrade right? Does anyone know where I can get the Vista CD of the Soundblaster Audigy?

I have this dell deminsion E310 and on the mixer for the onboard sound of sigma tel there is no hear me now nor a stero mix but on my laptop with the same sigma tel onboard I have a stero mix...the mic is not on the playback anymore it is on the recording.  This setup stinks..I want to play music and do cds of recordings I have done into live chat rooms and I cannot.  What is the solution here rather than disabling the onboard sound and uninstalling this soundblaster audigy advanced MB which half of it doesnt work and installing a soundblaster audigy II sound card itself? This is a very very poor audio setup never had one like this before.

Hi all,

I can hear some of you freaking out on this issue... well right now you are not alone. this is freaking me out too. I am still looking for solution and none of the forums have been able to provide one that works for me and I know there is a few other people lin this situation:

I6400 + sigmatel audio + vista 32 bits ultimate

symtoms: recording works but unable to monitor the line-in real time from the PC hmmmpffff. as noted this works perfectly in XP. what a Joke.

I don't understand why a "multimedia" laptop with SUPER VISTA :) is not able to perform an audio function so fundamental to recording. Is this MS Vista Dell /sigmatel issue who knows.

someone writes that the function (line-in monitoring) has been reported by DELL as unavailable on super VISTA  or is it they just do not know how to get it working either. ???

anyway that's alot of post with no much solution so let's summarize the options:

1 - Get the freaking thing working properly.  mayb e a different driver may do the trick. who knows ...

2 - boot the laptop with XP for audio work (my laptop is dual boot) as line-in real monitoring works GOOD with XP/DELL/SIGMATEL

3- use an external mixer to mix the PC output and line-in before it enters the PC. trickier to setup levels and annoying as it requires extra gear but possible.

I hope someone get it working ... we'll see I'll post if I find a solution...

guys, i sitting here in my chair in hysterical laughter like i was watching sinbad the entertainer, reading these comments, over the atrociousness of what Dell and Microsoft has done or whoever is responsible. as a videographer sound is CRUCIAL to my business, being able to hear your own voice back in real-time is CRITICAL - it's driving me crazy that i get no sound through my speakers as i'm recording. even yet, i'm getting no signal when using the "sound recorder" function under accessories.

here's my configuration: windows vista ultimate, dell xps 410 (new), standard mic hooked up to the "built-in" mic jack on the motherboard

i'm having the same issues as "dennis p, wes, jeff, and john addis" had or are still having (refer to their comments). worst yet if i try to search the registry for the "EnableInputMonitor", it comes back with no results in the search. Can someone provide the path structure to where i can manually search for it? i'm attempting john addis' solution to the problem.

thanks for the help and let's continue to help one another especially after being blindsided. i can't tell you the nightmare it's been since i got this new system, operating system and drivers that don't work like they are supposed. the cover up is a crime.

John,

Thanks for the info.  I have a Dell E521 with the same issue (no input monitor).  Tried your suggestion and now it works great.  Thank you!!!

I bought a dell laptop e1705 window vista, sigmatel sound card. What bother me is that there is no visible Stereo Mixer control for sound device. I've tried to reinstall the newest sigma driver driver from dell support center, but.. still it does not work at all. Please help.

Any ideas about updating the sigmatel driver for the e1505 so that Audigy MB works without the sound being choppy and lagging?

Any response at all to this thread anymore?

I usually avoid dells because I always heard they are not upgrade friendly if you like to add stuff on your own. I figured I'd give a Dell a shot and bought a Dell Dimension E521 and was pretty impressed with it that is untill i tried to run my XBOX360 Audio through my Line-In on my sound card. Apparently you can't actually use your line-in to Hear sound, Just record it.

Thanks for taking an otherwise decent computer and making it a pain in the arse to own. The On-Board audio is junk. This will be my first and last Dell.

i have a dell dimension e520. i was purchased it on 09/07/07.

i have a problem on my pc its sound not working.

I had to wipe my computer from scratch and install Vista fresh.....

I didn't do an upgrade for the Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio and now its asking me for a product key when I try to install.

What should I do to get this working?  I paid for it when I got my computer with XP.

Hey guys, I have a bit of a problem here...i cant use my creative volume panel...it keeps saying no audio device installed...i have the creative soundblaster audigy mb for vista and this is on a dell dimension e521.  Can anyone help me?? I love those EAX settings...I dont wanna lose them because of this stupid problem!

When are you guys going to update the Sigmatel driver, so I don't have to disable all enhancements-to get it to work properly?

Choppy, slow, and useless with enhancements on-and turning them off fixes the audio-but disables the Audigy MB effects?

Any help?

No wait, my apologies - not Vista itself, but the Dell/Sigmatel configuration does not support line in monitoring. My fault.

Sheesh, glad I'm not alone. Fruitless hours with Dell chat support and forums later just to find out that line in monitoring is not supported by Vista. Great. Just great.

I'm hooking up my line in devices back into my XP system. What a joke.

hope to find this driver so i can listen to quality sound

The registry edit worked great to allow monitoring of the line input.  Thanks so much for posting this fix!

Nigel Jones

I've tried downloading the audigy for vista (I had an XP license) sw but get an error about "audio device not found".

However I am running Vista x64 and the download is explicitly listed as for x32.

When can we expect an x64 version (which would make it really vista compatible)

I've had the (no) sound issue on my new Dimension 9200.  I was unable to get either the SigmaTel on board audio or a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 card to make a sound.  Both indicated that they were installed correctly, tests (via Vista's control panel) showed that the sounds were being played but the system remained mute, until...I disconnected my nice Creative 2.1 speaker system (sub woofer and two speakers) and connected the cheap, tinny sounding little USB speakers supplied by Dell.  Now I have sounds but poor quality using either the onboard or Audigy device.  The Audigy obviously give slightly better quality but even so, is poor, because of the low grade speakers attached.  However, at the moment I'm working on the 'any sound is better than no sound' theory!  Having got the system working this way I tried connecting various different speakers but the system stubbornly refuses to make a sound with anything other than Dell's speakers attached....needless to say, I am not happy!

Dear Dell!

I contact you now via email directly in the States to maybe get more information about my problem, as the German support always just says that they can’t tell me when this problem will be fixed.

My company ordered 2 insprion 9400 notebooks last fall. On the phone they told me that this product would be fully Vista compatible.

When we upgraded one of them to Vista two months ago we recognized that there is a problem with the Sigmatel Audio HD microphone jack. As its functioning as Line-In and Microphone it is a stereo plug. After installing the newest drivers it always asks me now what I connected to the plug ( mic/ line in), like it did before in Windows XP. When I now select Mic, it does not change from the stereo plug to the mono plug. If I record something, my voice is just coming out of one speaker. It never did that before. That causes problems with Skype or even the speech recognition integrated into windows vista, as they expect a mono signal on the left line for a mic. This is a big problem as I cant use anything that I need a microphone for. This really upsets me, as the dell support here in Germany can’t provide me with any information about this problems and always refers to the US development department that did not provide updated drivers yet. Do you have an idea when this will be working? I was promised a Vista compatible product and now my sound is just trash. We ordered a couple dell systems already and were quite satisfied with them but this really makes me angry and upset and raises the question if dell will be the right supplier for us in the future.

Best Regards

Sebastian

Hi everyone.

I have a problem with the Installation of Creative Soundblaster Audigy Advanced MB for Vista Home Basic.

For some reason I had to reinstall the operating system. The problem is that i tried to reinstall the "Creative Soundblaster Audigy Advanced MB" and it asked for my activation key.

I keyed in the activation key on the sticker on the back of the CD that dell provided.

what do i see next is that my key doesnt get accepted !!!

It shows an error 1209.

What the hell is going on. Whom do i contact? Dell or creative? Creative site doesn't even have this particular software on their site.

FOR ANYONE WHOSE GETTING THE "AUDIO DRIVERS NOT FOUND" Error when installing the Sound Blaster Vista Upgrade--

You have to install the Sigmatel drivers FIRST.  They can be found on the support.dell.com page under drivers, your computer model, Windows Vista.  Then install the Sound Blaster Vista Upgrade.  Worked for me.

Hey 2All... I have an Inspiron 6400 with a T7200 2.0Gig 667FSB 4MB Cache... Same sound card... supposed to be a SoundBlaster Audigy (Advanced MB). I am looking for the drivers to updtate that are compatible with WinVIista 32-Bit for this and for the Nvidia Geforce 7300 GO... Currently my system is stable using the updated version for the Nvida Geforce 7300 GT because I cannot find the update or the Geforce 7300 GO on the Nvidia website... Help from anyone is appreciated... Thanx to all

I was pretty furious when Dell told me line-in monitoring wasn't possible with the Sigmatel audio (especially since that was the only sound card option given to me when purchasing the system).  The tech actually told me that line-in monitoring was an unsupported "advanced audio configuration".  The system wasn't faulty, he explained, because it could indeed play and record audio.

Think about that for a second.  Suppose you buy a VCR that indeed records and plays back television, but you can't actually watch a program WHILE it's being recorded.  Would anyone seriously say with a straight face that the VCR was "working properly", and that watching a program while it's recording would be an "advanced" configuration?  Of course not.

Make no mistake: the Dell/Sigmatel configuration is FAULTY.  Period.  Dell should be ashamed of themselves for distributing computers in such a clearly broken state.

Luckilly, before I was going to return the unit, I found an easy workaround (at least for my E521):

1)  Press (WindowsKey)-R (to run a program)
2)  Type "regedit", press enter, and then click "Continue" (depending on your security settings)
3)  Go to Edit -> Find (or Ctrl-F)
4)  Type "EnableInputMonitor" and click Find (or Find Next)
5)  Double-click the EnableInputMonitor entry.  It will come up as 0000 00.  Change the 00 to 01 (so it's 0000 01).  Do a Find Next just to make sure it's the only EnableInputMonitor registry setting on your system
6)  Exit the Registry Editor and Restart the PC
6a)  Wait for Vista's criminally long reloading time
7)  Right-click the little Sigmatel Icon and select "Playback Devices"
8)  Click "Speakers/Headphones" and then "Properties".
9)  Under the "Levels" tab, there is now a new option called "Input Monitor", which is muted.  Click the speaker to unmute to Input Monitor, and the Line-In port now functions as expected (i.e. like every other computer and every other sound card made in the last 20 years)

Now everything works.  The Sigmatel card actually sounds pretty darned good, even with my studio headphones (which I think cost as much as the E521 itself).  A few things to note, however:

1)  There is no way to adjust the volume of the monitoring, as far as I can see.  It's essentially a pass-through, as if you were to plug the input source directly into your stereo or speakers.  (On balance, this doesn't really bug me, just pointing it out.)

2)  The Sigmatel records outrageously hot, and without a limiter, so if you hit 0db, you will get the worst crackle you've ever heard on a card.  Seriously, I had to set my line-in level to "0" and my mixer's output to 1/4 volume before I could get anything close to distortion-free recording.

3)  For some odd reason, the aforementioned line-in level likes to occasionally change itself on its own, depending on the program you're using (Audition, Sonar, etc.)  Just keep that little Sigmatel monitor open and keep making sure that line-in stays at "0" or you'll regret it.

Anyway, hope this helps everyone!  Let me know if anyone has problems with this method, and/or if you can find out a way of keeping that line-in set to "0" permanently.  It's probably tied up with one of those weird Vista options like "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" but I haven't had time to play around yet.

Silly Dell.

Hi Bob,

I just purchased a brand new Inspiron 1501 with a Soundblaster Audigy sound card.  It came with Win Vista, but I just installed Win XP and I can't seem to find the drivers for the Audigy sound card.

I went to Creative's website to get them, but I can't see any Audigy MB model in the download list.

Do you have any idea what drivers in am supposed to get for that soundcard?

Thanks a lot!

Casey,

Not the same as your line out issue-but the Sigmatel driver I have needs serious work-and Dell(pinging Lionel here) needs to look at it badly.

I just spent a fruitless 2 hour an the phone to the XPS service and boy they tried everything to stop the studdering and snapping on my 1210 laptop but nothing worked.  If you go to the creative forum people have the torches and pitch forks out.  It seem like eeeverybody is having this problem and they blame Vista.  Well then?  How can Dell fix it for us loyal customers? After 5 months its time to give the notebook owners new pci e Audigy 2zs cards that may work or replace the notebook motherboard.  I get the - Error loading CTMBHA.DLL too.  Chin up they can't dodge this forever.

No, I haven't gotten anywhere on this.  I have also been reading the support forums on Creative's site but nothing from there either.  I'm reluctant to keep trying to delete and reinstall the same Sigmatel driver as I don't feel like breaking the sound again.  Can anyone from Dell give an update on this issue?

To summarize, when using the line in jack on the on-board integrated Audigy sound, I can see the level meters moving and there's a signal,  but you can't hear it while it's actually playing.  It will record and you can hear it on the playback, which would be the equivalent of painting blindfolded I suppose.  I've got a Dimension E520 just a few weeks old with Vista pre-installed.

Casey Cook, I too cannot now hear my Line-in in real time even though the signal is being accessed by my recording software. It is virtually impossible to record what you cannot hear in real time! I have done apparently, nearly exactly the same as you state. Have you heard back from anyone on this yet?

I contacted Dell via Dell chat today, reporting the same problem. Having tried to correct the difficulty, using absolutely simple strategies that I had already attempted and then asking me if my speakers were turned on ... I was told by the assistant , Bandna, that they did not have 'training' to deal with the problem and that therefore if i wanted further help with this problem not of my making, I would have to contact Dell's PAID  help services! This after Bandna told me that it was not a 'system' failing but rather because I was using a guitar .. What exactly does the inclusion of a line-in jack permit a user? I had been happily recording away right up till I upgraded to Vista! I have to say that I am not at all happy with Dell right now. The pc is relatively new and I specifically paid the fee when purchasing it to have it made ready to accept the upcoming Vista software.

What I want to know is, since Dell has all of our purchase details, why did Dell not send out a message to all concerned advising each of the solution and providing them with the link to appropriate fixes for what has to be an in-house Dell/ Creative/ Vista problem and certainly not a problem caused by purchasers of the Dell pc. or the Creative sound card or the Vista software! Why too when the solution is apparently released does it not actually completely work? Was it Dell who made the fix or some incredibly generous individual trying to solve what Dell won't attempt?

So can someone explain to me why previous XP preinstalled 9400's get a licence key and disk yet a brand new purchase with Vista has no key and I am being asked to fork out cash to get one? Shouldn't it be a licence for all users?

I purchased a Dell XPS 410 in late October 2006.  It came with Windows XP and the vaunted "Vista Capable" logo.  Once Vista came out, I purchased Vista Ultimate from a retail store and installed it on my system.  That's when I started to get the following error message:

RunDLL

Error loading CTMBHA.DLL

Invalid access to memory location.

This annoying message pops up every time I boot my machine.  I had hoped that by downloading the Vista version of Audigy Advanced MB (which I did) that it would solve this problem.  No!  By looking at my list of programs within Control Panel and their install dates, I could see that all I updated was Creative MediaSource 5.  The following programs weren't updated at all...

Sound Blaster ADVANCED MB Drivers

Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced MB

Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced MB Product Registration

What gives?  Either I'm doing something wrong, or I think Dell needs to rework its update.  Hopefully someone can answer my issue.  Thanks.

Pinging Lionel,

Lionel,

You guys need to seriously work on the Sigmatel 92xx Vista driver-for e1505-version A02 is causing unacceptable audio skips-and it's the only one that will work with the  Vista Audigy MB download-turning off enhancements fixes the audio skipping; but also turns off the Soundblaster Audigy MB effects, trying any older version of the Sigmatel driver causes Audigy MB not to work. Any help on this??? you guys got it almost resolved-but not yet.

Hello, I just found the update for Audigy Soundblaster MB from dell, and I installed it,like others it directed me to use a activation Key. I just found and  used my Key from the CD sleeve (Audigy Soundblaster MB) I got from dell with my 1505 when  I first purchased it. But like some others there isnt a DRIVER ( r154230) installed that I can find. Heres a suggestion! Can you (DELL) post just a driver also. Maybe this will help someone else. Thanks

To Lionel,

Thanks for posting the download-working good with my e1505; however the Sigmatel 92xx driver version A02-that it works correctly with, needs some SERIOUS attention, it causes stuttering, and when I try to fast forward with WMP11 it lags-(seconds) before it switches. The workaround suggested by Dell-to disable enhancements; resolves the stuttering;but turns off the Audigy Soundblaster MB effects. So this needs to be looked at. Any resolution yet??

Anyone got this sw working on vista x64?

I get

X "Audio drivers not found, please install your Audio Drivers before running this setup program"

I have the sigmatel audio drivers running fine...

Like Steve, my install took me to Creative's activation page.  My key was accepted and I installed all features (there is NO "r154230" folder or file anywhere on my hard drive).

After rebooting, the Creative Media elements (Player, file converter, etc) all function but the SoundBlaster Audigy items (Volume Panel and Audio Center) do not, though they appear in menus.

Additionally, the Volume Panel appears in the notification area on startup but when clicked tells me "There are no supported audio device available."

Any thoughts?

I have M1210 and i tried to install the Audigy MB software (Vista) but it asks for an activation key ...where do i get it from .. do i have it on one of the CD's i have

thanks

When I clicked on the upgrade icon, it did not open to unzip the files and save as driver r154230 as instructed, it opened up to a licence activation screen and started installing after I input my serial number. During installation of the mediasource files I recieved a setup.exe error and the system would close now.  I am going to try installing it again, just wondering if something is wrong with the update.  Thanks

I have a Dimension 9200 and have downloaded the Audigy software but when I install it asks for an activation key or I can purchase one. I have tried the activation key on my original XP version but this does not work.  How do I install without having to pay?

Aj,

Have you posted your issue on the Dell Community Forums? We may be able to help you on the Vista Boards or the Portables Audio Boards.

I have an interesting problem.

I own a XPS M1210 with Vista Ultimate.  I just installed the SoundBlaster MB Vista release.

The internal speakers on the M1210 just plain suck, so I got myself a pair of portable USB powered Altec Speakers.  They sound great, but they would sound better if I could get them to work with the SoundBlaster MB.

The problem I am having is the Audigy MB software does not work on my USB Speakers.

I really want to know why this is and if others are having the same problem.

i have a xps 710 and the first time i ran vista on it it was great till i started having driver problems for example the creative software never worked correctly now im wonder if with this download it would fix the issuse of not being able to use the creative console switch option  before i would get an error saying the softwear had an internal error so is this the answer to my long awaited question??

I have an Inspiron E1505, and I tried using this install and it isn't working.  I uninstalled my current audio driver (non-Sigmatel) and tried installing the update, but the update gives an error about the wrong license.  Is this update only for Inspiron E1501?  Also, do I need the Sigmatel audio driver for this or not?  Thanks!

Mine is Dimension 9200/DXP061.

Mine has a Sound Blaster x-Fi Xtreme Music PCI Soundcard.

Will there be an intergrated sound present in my system and will this download help me?

Thiru

Thiru: To answer your questions. Yes, you will have the integrated audio hardware on the system.

However, this download will not help you, because you are not using that integrated audio hardware. If you have a SoundBlaster X Fi card with it's driver properly installed, you already have all the functionality this download provides.

I removed all the potentially incompatible software from my XP partition while waiting for my Vista upgrade DVD's ... and then added lots of other OS's in new partitions.

When I ran the DELL upgrade DVD on XP all it recommended was a BIOS upgrade: drivers and applications (Roxio, McAfee, ... Corel) were untouched. Ironically VISTA came up fine with all the old drivers.

No problem I thought - just add everything manually. Fine for the drivers but the application setup files are password protected so I can't launch them. Is there any way to install individual apps. from the upgrade DVD? I don't want to fall back to a full factory configuration!

Thanks.

Why is this only listed for the 1501? I can't find it under the listing for any other system type?

It's no good if nobody can find it :)

Thanks,

Ricky

I installed the update but I still cannot hear my line-in in real time.  I can record on the line in but I can't hear the source.  I tried to reinstall the Sigma Tel driver and broke the audio completely, had to go back to a restore point.  I've had the Dimension E520 for just under a week now and have been really happy except for this audio problem.  I am a musician so this is a real problem.  Anyone having luck with this issue?

Lionel - any update on when this VISTA software will be available for the Dimension 9150 / XPS 400 desktop systems? I've seen the update posted by Doug for a number of notebook systems listed by specific model numbers but many of us are waiting on the Desktop systems version

Bodogbodog: This download is indeed compatible with the XPS 400 and the Dimension 9150.

We're going to update the list of supported systems soon.

When is vista on XPS 710 avaible in europe

Maybe you could also provide a link to the new E521 Bios. The link on the download page has been dead for days now. Thanks

Lionel, Is this download compatible with the XPS/Dimension 400/9150 (DXP051)? I notice that this is not listed on the download site. Thank you!

Bob

Bob: Sorry for the delay... still out sick. To answer your question, yes, the download is compatible with desktops that have integrated Sigmatel audio, like yours.
