Sound Blaster Audigy MB Software Download Coming Soon

In the time since Lionel first blogged about the Sound Blaster Audigy MB software, we've been working with Creative Labs to address the need for an upgrade path for customers who paid for the Windows XP version and did not receive the Vista version.

Later this month, we plan to offer this software to customers via download for free. This version will be equivalent to what Dell factory installs on Vista systems. In order to ensure reliability of the download and upgrade process, we still need a bit more time for additional testing. This testing will be completed soon, and we expect to post the Sound Blaster Audigy MB software by the end of the month.

There are some known issues with this upgrade process due to Vista not finding and caching all the necessary configuration files. For those you experiencing issues with the Sigmatel drivers after performing a Vista upgrade, here’s what you need to do:

  • Uninstall the driver first
  • Reinstall the driver

See this link for more details on the un-installation process. After your driver have been uninstalled, please reinstall the Sigmatel drivers on support.dell.com.

Update, 4/30: The Vista software for the Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD audio is now available for download. Click here to download.

First it Extracts some CRC files from the CD then.. it end up with an error : can't acvitae your copy...then the Aplication quits..

OS : Vista Home Premium

Is there any possible solution for this ?

Help me out !

Thanks and Regards

Karthik.

Great. Now how about those who bought Vista version, and want XP version.

Why is it so hard to get drivers for Dell-machines?

Dear Sir,

i have purchased dell inspiron 1525 windows vista basic last month but very low sound performance the same my friend also purchased the toshiba in his laptop very high sound performance, i need the same sound in my laptop give me the solution and send me the soft ware are sound drivers to my mail .

Thank you

Regards,

Rehan.

This is ATTROCIOUS and UNACCEPTABLE!

I think it's about due time that the media is brought into this mess.

I have an desktop Dimension E521 running Windows Vista.

I'm a musician and needing to work on multitrack recording, all this would have been perfectly fine on my XPS400 (XP), but now I find out Dell has disabled 'stereo mixing' functionality on my newer machine?!?

This is absurd, and unacceptable. So far, from all the research I have been doing, Dell has done NOTHING to rectify this problem.

Oh, but the Sound Blaster Audigy MB 'upgrade' from the disfunctional and INCOMPLETE SigmaTel HD Codec is supposed to be 'free'?

RIGHT...

That was almost a year ago now. I bet Lionel has found a job with a more reliable company since then.

I already paid for my computer, I should not have to pay further to get the functionality I was assured I would get with this purchase. I wonder what the Better Business Bureau would have to say about this type of business practice?

Furthermore, I don't even know if purchasing a new soundcard (NOT from DELL) would fix this problem, but again, WHY should I buy a new soundcard when all the built-in cards until NOW have had fully functioning mixing capabilities?

WE'RE ALL DEMANDING SOME KIND OF FIX!

I'd like to be able to use my PC as intended, the ports are all there on my card, so please enable the FULL functions on the SigmaTel HD Codec as we PAID for it!!!

If anyone has any kind of information on how to bypass this idiotic problem, PLEASE reply!

I read this page and could not find the fix for my situtaion.

I have a Dell XPS 400, with Window XP Media Center 2005. The hard drive crashed so i replace the hard drive.

I reinstalled the OS and the drivers using dell OS recovery and  resource disks.

The card i have is the Sound Blaster Audigy MP3. It has 6 mini-din input and a firewire connection.

In Device Manager, there were a  yellow question mark for PCI input, PCI simple controller.

Dell assist me with installing the drivers, but did not stayed on the phone to acutally hear the speakers. When i called back, they said the PC is out of warranty and i have to pay a fee for further tech support. :(

Anyway, i am not hearing any sound. Speaker are fine, volume are to the max but NO Sound :(

Is there something that need to be customized in the creative lab configuration tool or the Pc??

i have an inspiron 1525

i have downgraded the os to xp sp2

and my microphone near the inbuilt webcam isnt workin in the hardware panel the default recording device is set to bluetooth handsfree

and there is no other option

if sumone can help me out with this problem

plz reply

give me mybside driver dell 1525 xp supprted

p.s. have win xp

Hi, I have a Vostro 1500, purchased Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD software, but have never seen it in operation or on the system.  Just tried installing from the supplied CD and the installation aborts advising it cant find the driver. The laptop has sigmatel hardware. What now?

Dear all,

I am quite dissapointed with DELL's audio/sound features. One of my hobbies is to record articles either from the web or from my own voice with a mic, and I use isound pro and ever since I've installed it on my DELL Inspiron 1720 (Vista) with the awful Sigma Tel sound card, I haven't been able to run this isound properly, resorting to doing so on my old XP/hybrid desktop. On the website for isound (http://www.abyssmedia.com/mp3recorder/vista-faq.shtml) they show some steps on how to configure this on Vista systems, however (if you check the link) the "Stereo Mix" option that is supposed to appear on the control panel sound window doesn't appear. I also checked various sites looking for drivers to see if i could solve this issue but nothing happens. I actually tried doig all this a few months ago but gave up, and tried again this week but obviously it's all been unsuccessful.

I definitely would NOT recommend DELL for someone who works with audio. Anyway, if there is a solution, I'd like to know. If there is someone who can post a REAL and DETAILED solution to this issue it would be really appreciated by all the people who have this problem.

Thanks.

Dian,

i  downloaded the sound blaster audigy software from the dell driver site but it is asking for a activation key what should i do???????

Hello, I got my Dell Dimension E521 last year, on June 13. I love to film games with 3rd party software (right now, WeGame). Ive been trying to use this software, but I would really like to have sound to be recorded. It says that I have to go to my sound settings and enable my "Stereo Mix" device. Well, I dont see the Stereo Mix, and I would love to have sound in my recordings.  I am using is a SigmaTel High Definition CODEC ( That's what it says in my sound options. Im pretty sure that not the card) But that's under bold letters "Microphone" I dont have a microphone. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium. Please help me!

Hi guys!

I bought my DELL M1330 recently. However, I haven't upgraded my sound to that Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy MB Software.

What mainly will it improve the sounds, technically speaking??

My question is, can I still avail that software for my notebook right now? I was quite hopeless because the agents told me that I can't avail that anymore because I already availed the notebook. Is there any hardware configuration for that software so that it will function?

Thank you very much.

kenji,

You will probably find your answer on the Dell Community Forum. Below is a link to their Laptop/Audio page.

provide audigy software to downlaod..\

I have purchased a DELL notebook Inspiron 1525.

I uninstall ed the Windows Vista, and now I am working with Windows Xp professional.

For my notebookI also applied for "Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio Software".But when I am going to install this it is showing the error. I am unable to install this software.

Pleas help me to install this software in Windows XP Professional.

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505.

I recently jumped on the vista band wagon and did a full install and removed XP and everyhting seems fine until I reinstall the audigy HD software from dell website.  It is asking for an activation key.  its obvious that the old key does not work.  What do I do?

Help.

Hello everyone,

I've been looking for this answer but I think nobody asked the following:

I just bought a DELL inspiron 1721 with this soundblaster audigy MB whose installation cd has an P/N code, it also reads VISTA and under this REV 0.
Please let me know if this is supposed to be working fine on my laptop since everytime I want to play music or videos the sound gets cut as well as the video image so it becomes a very annoying experience.

The wierd thing (at least to me) is that this problem does not happen if I'm using the headphones. I can turn the volume up to the limit and everything woks fine.

Please, could anyone let me know what this could be and how to proceed and fix it?

I would appreciate a lot if you could help me with this.

Thanks a lot.

 It's not even my machine - it's my dad's. He's 79.

I'm a hundred miles away... trying to help. But...

After cruising around a bunch of "official" DELL sites, and reading this thread, it is ABSURD that there is no conscise explanation, source or information regarding making the bloatware VISTA run the hardware on these DELL boxes!! ABSURD.

He's got a bloody Dimension 8400, that after the "upgrade" via a retail version of VISTA now does not: have sound (driver for "multimedia audio controller" not found), can't run the modem (no driver??), and won't shut off (it restarts)!

HOW IS ANYONE SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT THIS STUFF IS, WHAT IS NEEDED, AND WHAT TO DOWNLOAD - IF THERE IS ANYTHING AVAILABLE TO DO THE JOB!!!

There is no bloody DOCUMENTATION. Period!!

So, not only can he not get on the internet after the "upgrade" the damn thing sits there and plotzes... and there is bupkis for information on here or any other DELL site that I can find that is worth a damn.

ABSURD.

probably, if you need stereo mix right now.   I've spent a whole day looking for a hack or driver update for my E521 desktop, specifically one that enables stereo mix or "what you hear" in the recording devices - to no avail.  My D600 laptop from two years ago has it, but my brand new desktop doesn't!  There are some "try at your own risk" hacks on notebookforum, but they're for notebooks and don't seem to work for the desktop.  Someone might be able to translate the hacks to the desktop regime, but it doesn't appear that anyone has attempted that yet.  Sorry...

Same question as Keith Wilson above: do I need to buy a new sound card for a dimension e521?

keith wilson

I too have had multiple sound issues since I received my first Dell XPS M1710 in June of 2006.  After 3 motherboard changes, 1 speaker set changed, and A entire computer swapped out due to one of the motherboard changes frying the whole system.  I still have crappy sound in Windows XP MCE, Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista Home Premium 32, Vista Business 32bit.  I ultimately installed Vista Business 64 bit which give me some stability in sound through headphones the speakers on the laptop still suck, but with no Sound Blaster Audigy HD for vista 64 bit, sound panel control for this setup is at a minimum.  Not to mention I have 4 gigs of ram and a 512MB Video card and still can't use all my ram in the 64 bit os because dell has the bios limited to only allowing 4gb ram total.  Why they sell and advertise that you can use 4 gb of ram when you can't on a system is beyond me.  When will dell get around to fixing the crappy sound, When will dell put out 64 bit drivers that actually work?  When will dell fix the bios on the XPS M1710 so it can use all 4 GB of Ram?

I had vista but got rid of it for XP and need the XP version SW of audigy advanced mb.  creative told me that they would give me a new act key once I recieved this from dell.  so how can I get this?

I got creative soundblaster application for Vista Platform. I downgraded my OS to Xp and I'm not able to install creative application.

Where I can get my XP compatible version?

I just bought the new XPS M1730 decked out and while I'm impressed with the hardware's performance I am utterly frustrated with Dell's COMPLETE FAILURE to support the drivers.

You think for a laptop that costs $6,000 they would have tested their image and made sure they had all their drivers supposer and available on their website but after booting the machine and running Second Life the machine would hard lock. So, I reinstalled, using 64-Bit Vista Ultimate. It came with 32-Bit, but obviously Dell doesn't understand that you can't use all 4GB of ram due to limitations of the 32-Bit architechture. That or they don't care.

There are NO Video drivers on Dell's website for 64-Bit vista, NO Modem drivers, NO SD card reader drivers, NO Logitech LCD Display drivers, NO Mouse drivers and ZERO support for the extra HD Audigy drivers I paid for.

So I can't configure the scrolls zones on the touchpad which has no middle mouse button, I can't use the video, can't use SD, have a LCD taking up space that doesn't display things.

I'm an engineer for a consulting firm who regularly deals with architechting hardware standards for large companies and state and local government agencies. My experience with Dell lately has been utterly appalling. The reason why I HAVE this XPS is to replace my D820 which is currently having motherboard #5 replace with motherboard #6. It keeps randomly powering off and Dell wouldn't even send someone out to help their own technician!

Secondly, my D820 is advertised as being capable of utilizing 4GB of RAM. According to Dell's own internal documentation, this is NOT PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE because the addressing between the PCI bridge and the CPU only has 32bit and therefore is not large enough to support the capacity. Doesn't that consist of FALSE ADVERTISING? That's not even counting the months I've spent with their engineers working on the failure of their bluetooth 350 Vista driver which continually uninstall and reinstalls itself whenever UAC is activated or the machine goes into screensaver mode or locks the machine.

I was honestly hoping the XPS would lend me a much better experience and while it is excellent when running in a limited 32bit mode with my Virtual PC usage, the lack of any 64-bit support is really unbelievable. You would think Dell would understand that gamers and ehavy users know of the benefits of the architecture and would have planned for this. Not to mention, how do you release a piece of hardware that only has partial driver support?

Despite everyone asking when they can see support for 64-Bit Vista there has been no response from Dell at all.

So I pose this question again.

When will Dell release the HD Audigy Software that supports 64-Bit Vista?

and a side note, when the heck are the rest of the drivers coming out??!!!!!

Hello i have a Dell Dimension 9150 and i cant seem to put a DDR ram into it... i compared my ram inside my dell and the other ram i had, the hole / cut thing below the ram did not match with my other ram, what do i do? i just spent alot of money...

After downlaoding drivers from Dell Support my Volum Mixer stopped workin. Tryed to re-install the drivers, tryed to disable modem, cause i red that it could help, tryed to Do Windows Update, but at the en I always get that there is no Audio  devise installed. I have XPS M1710 with Vista Ultimate on. Tryed to call XPS helpdesk, but there is nothing they could do to help. I have SigmaTel drivers installed, think its on the mother-board. I have googled the problem and it seems to be a problem with Dell and the SigmaTel and Vista. Im open for everything, but have tryed the most i could find so far. PLEASE HELP!

As an addendum to my previous message, I determined the problem with the Audigy MB Advanced software. When you install the software, it adds Windows drivers that kill the ability to play sounds on the computer. To remove the drivers, open the "Change or Remove Programs" Windows applet. Click on "Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced MB". (Don't click on "Sound Blaster Advanced MB Drivers". This contains the good drivers.) You should then recieve a dialog offering to remove all or remove some compenents. Click to remove some of the components only. You will then recieve a list of components. Check the box only for the "Windows drivers." After the program removes these drivers, reboot and your sound will be back to normal.

I have an Inspiron E1505 that came with Vista. After the computer stopped accessing the Internet, Dell concluded that I needed to reinstall the operating system. I would have lived with Vista, but if I have to start over it was definitely not going back. So installed XP.

The Sound Blaster Audigy MB software CD was for Vista only. So after Dell did not reply to my request for the XP software. I bought it from Sound Blaster. That itself was an ordeal since Sound Blaster makes you hunt the Internet for the software after you pay for it.

Anyway after installing the software I have no sound. The system tells me there is the device is in use. But device manager says it is working fine.

Based on the Dell and Sound Blaster web sites this seems like a common problem. Anyone know how to fix it?

I had a recent problem with my Dell inspiron 1720 and lost all special effects that came with the Audigy Advanced MB Software (eax, cmss, equalizer, bass boost) after installing sigmatel drivers that Dell told me I needed.  Is this a problem with the driver or did the software just get messed up and can I fix this with a Dell download?

Me to i rollback to XP and I really need the XP Version of the Audigy Advanced MB software for my Inspiron 1501

Thanks

I too am needing the XP Version of the Audigy Advanced MB software. I just reloaded my system down from Vista to XP Pro because I am tired of Vista's slowness. Anyone find a source for it??

Hi Lionel

It's been a couple of months since your replay to Eileen - can we get an update, please?

Cheers,

Ok, now I'm freaked... I can't use ANY of the recording software on my system that uses midi drums because this blasted sigmatel card doesn't support it.  I was told that I would have no problem with this and now I'm told the exact opposite.

This will definitely be the last Dell I purchase.

i hate dell i dont know what my sound card is and i dont have bloody sound

Have you had any response from your contacts regarding Eileen's question?  I am trying to record a Skype stream, and can't do it since I upgraded to an XPS 710.

Cheers,

Stephen.

Qoute: Janelle's post

Have anyone tried what Janelle's proposed? Would these driver be applicable for Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD audio, with OS XP?

Please help or any advice for my Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD audio, I have bought dell originally OS is Vista and I pre-installed it with an XP because I need it badly where can I find the exact driver to fit for XP, I have tried almost the driver found on the Creative website but it still doesn't work.  Is this Sound Blaster only used for Vista?

Eileen, fingers crossed you are still reading this thread.

IF you have the Sigmatel souncard try this I found this on another post

  • Follow this link: http://us.lgservice.com/
  • Click on: Product Support
  • Go to: Device Driver
  • In product, select “Notebook”
  • Search for “Sigmatel”
  • The download the result
  • Go into your Control Panel
  • Go to Sounds and Audio devices
  • Audio Tab
  • Sound recording - go to volume tab - Make sure you have Stereo Mix selected.
  • Hope it fixes your computer like it has our Dell.

I'm currently using Dell Inspiron 6400 with Mobile Intel 945GM Express
Chipset Family running Vista Home Premium 32. The thing is i was trying to use the waveout mix/stereo mix function but was unable to find it. i tried it on my sister notebook (exactly same like mine except for she is running XP on it) but there is no waveout mix/stereo mix for me to check. I would like to ask if weather this is cause by the SigmaTel sound driver or other problems.
Is it possible for me to uninstall SigmaTel sound driver and install other sound driver instead?

hope you peep can help me with my problems. thanks

I have a Dell Inspiron 640m, I had Vista Premium and upgraded to Ultimate. Had the same issue with no sound and the speaker icon with the red circle and I couldn't get it working. I un-installed the previous sound driver, reinstalled the new one in safe mode. Rebooted, saw the red circle was still there but when I scrolled my mouse over it, it was just muted.

Hooray, it only took 3 days but now I have sound coming out of it. Hope that helps some of you.

This is absolutely ridiculous that an official fix has not been issued by dell.

As for the activation key, I too do not one, and I too am not paying for one.  I hope I can get this issue resolved soon.

    No comment, Dell?

Well, I didn't really expect one, going by the experience I had so far.

I have started spreading the news, it's going well, seems I'm really not on my own.

Why was this website invented by the way? "Direct to Dell"?  More like "Direct talking to the wall"

Ah well, will go and talk to my own wall now,

Eileen: My apologies for not following up with you. I've asked some questions on my end and will let you know what I find out.

Our last PC was a Dell Dimension 2400 and we didn't have this problem.

With the new PC, a Dell Dimension C521 Desktop, which we got with XP(we asked for XP, don't like Vista) I cannot tell you the amount of frustration!

I want to record streaming audio from the internet and had no problem with the old one.

This one didn't do it, so I tried to find out what the problem is.

It was extremely frustrating to be pushed from pillar to post with the Dell technicians(this was on the phone initially)

Eventually with the online help support they did remote system checks, etc and I got the impression, they just did not know, what i was trying to explain to them. my suspicion was that the problem lies with the soundcard, but they repeatedly assured me the soundcard is fine, which is true, but I tried to explain to them, that it might be fine, but it doesn't support what I want it to do. After 2 hours the guy on the other end didn't want to talk to me anymore as I am using a "3rd party programme" to record (of course I do, Windows media Player does not record)

All I wanted to know was wether the soundcard (Sigmatel) supports that function, but I got nowhere.

They then kept on asking me, how I rated their performance. At this stage I couldn't care less about their performance, i just wanted to get help and got nowhere.

A new attempt the next day:

After being forwarded again from one to another operator, having to explain over and over again what my problem is, I finally got "talking" (it was the chat support" to a guy who finally confirmed, what I had suspected all along-the sigmatel soundcard doesn't support the record function.

This in itself is ultra annoying-whats the point in owning a brand new PC when it doesn't do what you want it to do?

How could I have known that it doesn't have a card which does what my last PC did, after all, its not something extravagant.

The next step was to find out which soundcard I can use with the C521 which will fit in it and do what I want it to do. For that he said i have to get in touch with the sales deptment.

I did that over the chat session. Again I had to explain of course-they said, I have to go to the upgrades section, but I can only reach them by phone, he gave me a phone number for them.I rang the number for ages, but it was continiously engaged, so I connected myself again with the chat line and told them, I cannot get through and they gave me a different number. All the time, they gave me platitudes"Sorry for your inconvinience, blablabla"

I tried the second number-same result. Trying to find someone to talk to in Dell seems impossible. Eventually I found a real number on the website for a Dell Office in Dublin(I actually live in Ireland)

There I talked to a woman and after expplaining yet again what my problem was (this time trying to find the right siundcard and purchasing it) she said, she will now put me through to the right person in sales and give them all the details beforehand.

After being put on hold for a good while I was put through to a woman who gave me the name of a soundcard I could use with the C521, but she couldn't sell it to me, but (and she assured me on that) she will put me through to someone who can arrange the purchase.

Again I was put on hold and finally a woman answered and told me to ring a phone number. I couldn't believe it-all this only to be given yet another phone number! I told her that the person who had connected me with her had assured me, I would be put through someone who could help me with the purchase.

She just kept on saying"No Mam, I'm only the receptionist, you have to ring that number"

    Helllllooo????? Receptionist?

Unbelievable carry on. What kind of lousy customer service is that?

Anyway I rang the number she had given me and got the same result-I couldn't get through.

This whole thing has really really annoyed me, I can't remember ever having such a problem after buying a product.

I have since found out through several forums on the internet that I am far from being alone with that problem.I find it totally ridicolous that dell decides to sell PCs with a soundcard which doesn't support the most basic functions and then not offering any help whatsoever exept for maybe having to purchase extra equipment. The PC itself is expensive enough to offer a good soundcard without having to buy extras for it to work properly.

The end result for me is, I will NEVER,NEVER,NEVER buy from Dell again and will spread the news about my experience as much as I possibly can(not hard in the age of the internet)

This might warn off potential buyers, I wouldn't like others to experience the frustration I had in the past week.

Well done Dell, good way to keep your customers *wake up and smell the irony*

    A very annoyed ex Customer.

P.S. Can I have a refund for the telephone costs???????

I'll just add my voice to the chorus...

I bought a Insperion 6400/E1505 shortly before xmas '06 and was sent a Vista upgrade disc a few weeks later. It has a Sigmatel card with Creative Labs Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD installed on it. I hesitated for a long time with the Vista upgrade - I guess I should have hesitated longer, because now I have intermittently glitchy audio no matter the source.

So I went to Dell site and had an online help session with Dell support. I let the tech take over my computer by remote. He did all the usual stuff I had already done, upgrading drivers and Creative software. After that didn't work he started turning off services and programs running in the background - and some other things I couldn't quite tell - until eventually the glitch was gone as long as I used WMP and almost *nothing* else was running! I had to roll back the system to the point before we met when it was over. Not exactly the 'multi-media powerhouse' Dell promised me.

So, will simply changing to a different sound card solve this? Obviously others have been suffering with it for a long time. It's a shame, I really used to enjoy owning this machine.

I've bought a new Inspiron E1705 and I am so disappointed about the integrated sound card because the driver (Sigmatel driver) masked out all of the properties, except the microphone. Basically, all option for Stereo Mix/Wave Out feature is NOT included in the system. Please give me some advice so I can fix the problem.

To my understanding, Dell product is one of the best, why the problem exist? Why should we pay $2.000 + for such a notebook?

    Please help.

I have to second the frustration of several posters here in that there is the perception that Dell still has only released the crudest driver support for Vista x64.  Does Dell have plans to release Audigy MB drivers for Vista x64?

I just received my new 1520 as a replacement for my aging e1505, and I promptly loaded with Vista x64 (needed to see all 4GB of RAM).  I already miss the superior sound from the Audigy MB drivers.

I bought an XPS m1710 system from dell and im very dissapointed. First and worst is the high frequency noise that is very irritating and it is beeping 90% of the time. When the welcome screen shows it starts beeping and doest stop after entering vista. This noise is like a tinnitus and its making it impossible to work.

The graphics is hacking and flimmering every now and then when i play the simple built-in program chess-titans.

When i play audio the sound is being strangely compressed making the sound volume jump up and down slightly but enough to make it impossible to listen to music. This is with external speaker and with head-phones.

The support has made me run all tests there is and removing lots of physical parts, all to no result. An engineer has visited me after an hour of self-work and replaced the processors and motherboard, still the same problem remains. Ive updated vista and still all the problems remains.

Great huh, 2500$ down the drain....

i got a m1210 with vista and audigy hd, 'upgraded' to xp pro sp2, and now want to install audigy again. the install disc that shipped to me is vista only. the download section of dell has nothing that will work, except for a little 'mixer' program that tells me to upgrade.

anyone have a link to the right thing?

I have the same problem with sparky , i work for this buisness that owns this pc and they got this computer pre owned and got no cd's with it.. and i need an activation key

How do you get the activation key?!!

My Dell Dimension 9150 came with the Intergrated Sound Blaster ADVANCED HD software pre-installed on XP.  Now I need to pay for drivers since upgrading to Vista Ultimate!

    Please help!   :(

Hi, i have a Dimension C521, and that software solved my problem:

    http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=vista&thread.id=6860&c=us&l=en&cs=19&s=dhs

     See ya..

how can dell REsell the sound driver u've already purchased when we pay for the notebook & the OS(vista)insid?????

or u've purchased the hardware(integrated sound card) only without the sofware(driver)needed to use it?????

& how dare dell to write on the audigy sound blaster driver that it's an urgent update while the customer has to pay for it for the 2nd time???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

does anyone know how to get the activation code for that driver without- paying for the 2nd time-for vista 32bit installed already on the notebook 640m,

I have a Dimension 5150C and have downloaded the Vista software for the Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD plus reinstalled the Sigma drivers.   However, I still get no sound.   In Device Manager, I see under Sound Controllers the SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC but nothing else.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can my sound working as it's very frustrating.

    Thanks

Well, it's wonderful that Vista customers can use Audigy finally... But what about those customers who downgraded? - I JUST bought a new E1405 and now I'm screwed for this software. I got the Vista version and now I need the XP version!

    Sincerely Frustrated,

    -Ryan

Thank you all. This really helped my from having to buy a new card. Dell and Creative support seem to suck big time.

I have downloaded the Vista software for the Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD audio but it is asking for an Activation Key.  As my Dell was preshipped with this software but for XP rather than Vista, how do I get the activation key (without having to pay)?   Or do I simply have to pay?

Dell themselves tell me to call Creative!!

    Thanks

I bought a XPS400 in Dec 2005. I had to reload my software resently and wanted to reload Sound Blaster audigy Advanced MB. I paid extra for this software. I am still running XT. I downloaded the invitation driver. No help.

This is the last Dell I'm going to buy. I'm absolutely fed up that I can't get my audio working... I had Vista Home Premium, drivers worked fine, and I upgrade and all of a sudden, it's unsupported. What kind of ridiculous crap is this? For 2k+, you should be getting a system with drivers that are supported in ALL versions of the OS.... so aggravating.

    John Lancaster

I loaded (and paid for!) the Creative Labs Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio for Vista.

My hardware still shows up as Sigmatel and I can't load soundfonts in Creative Vienna Soundfont studio.

I have an XPS M1710 with Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

Am I missing a driver somewhere?

Is the sound quality any better with the Audigy driver over the current Sigmatel one?  I am using the latest Sigmatel driver from the Dell website and the amount of hiss and noise makes listening to music via decent headphones almost unbearable.  Something doesn't seem quite right...

For those of you who have problems with the XP version activation key and can't get it to work, the CT0 is with a zero not an "o" . Thats the mistake I made. Its hard to see the difference.

    Hello Everyone,

This issue is also happening on my XPS 710 system and its very frustrating.  I contacted Dell Support and the tech took remote control of my pc and made some changes.  One of the changes was to uninstall my Sigmatel drivers while in SAFE MODE.  She also disabled all startup items.

Once rebooted my audio started working but after 2 reboots the same error message came back: "the audio service is not running".

I have read a lot of the suggestions everyone has made but they dont seem to be working.  Has anyone spoken to Dell about this?  If so, do they have plans on releasing a fix for anybody experiencing this issue?  This obviously seems to be a Vista issue and Dell hardware.  I have Vista Ultimate and it sucks that the Audio doesn't work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

     Thanks!

how to get drivers for dell  dimension 9200

I just looked at my device manager for the sound card driver and it still says Iam using Sigmatel .Ive uninstalled it twice. I just think we need the driver

R154230. like allthe other dell drivers instead of a driver app from creative for our laptops.

Hi...when I try to install the driver I get the license error...and it wont install. Then when I reboot, Vista installs one for me...it installs an HD audio driver that has a date of 2006. My sound works, but I am having problems with sound in my audio sequencing/recording software. My question is if the sound is working, does that mean its not a driver issue? I cant help but think I need an updated driver.

     ???

     john

This is just to thank Nigel C for his post from April 27. I did exactly the same, including deinstalling the Soundblaster driver, and now have my audio back! Owe you a pint!

After an express upgrade to Vista Business from XP Pro is it possible to get 7.1 sound to work on a Dimension 9200?  Have loaded the Sigmatel drivers but they only play through 2 speakers.

Iam trying to answer a post from Lionel Menchaca to send the requested info regarding my vista upgrade but none of the e-mail addresses seem to work. The normal dell customer sites never reply so you are my last hope.  Thanks  Carl G.      Reg. order number V2026987

Hi, When i try to install Creative Labs Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio for Vista i get a virus alert from Kapersky AV...is anyone else getting the message or is my AV just being over cautious

So here we are... May 1st.  No driver from Dell for Vista x64 on the m1710.  I guess it's okay to leave some of your most loyal customers out to dry For MONTHS after the release of the OS.

Is there any plan to release something for Vista x64 so that those of use that are taking advantage of the 64-bit capabilities in other areas can actually have the audio quality we paid for by purchasing the hardware, or do we have to wait until our hardware is obsolete so that we can be told that no drivers will be released because the hardware is out-of-date.

    Hello,

Nice, I have downloaded the software and now I need an activation-key, which I don't have. How nice...

What can I do with it? Is this the solution, cause I am not going to pay for it! It really doesn't make any sense...

Where to find this activation key?

    Thanx JP

Bodogbodog: This download is indeed compatible with the XPS 400 and the Dimension 9150.

We're going to update the list of supported systems soon.

    I have an interesting problem.

I own a XPS M1210 with Vista Ultimate.  I just installed the SoundBlaster MB Vista release.

The internal speakers just plain suck on the M1210, so I got myself a pair of portable USB powered Altec Speakers.  They sound great, but they would sound better if I could get them to work with the SoundBlaster MB.

The problem I am having is the Audigy MB software does not work on my USB Speakers.

I really want to know why this is and if others are having the same problem

Does this update fix these same problems for Inspiron e1705?

Is this driver for portables? or just the Desktops?

I have a E1705 that I bought last year with XP, but I upgraded it to Vista.  I tried to install the Audigy stuff mentioned above, but it would not take my activation key.  It took me to Creative's site and I said I was reinstalling to upgrade my OS, but it said there was a problem with my activation key.  I was trying to use the original activation key that came with my E1705 and XP.  Can anyone give a solution here?

Re: "Update, 4/30: The Vista software for the Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD audio is now available for download.                                  by Doug Peeler, Audio Systems Engineer—Notebooks"

Doug - any update on when this VISTA software will be available for Dimension 9150 / XPS 400 desktop systems? I've seen the update posted for a number of notebook systems listed by specific model numbers but many of us are waiting on the Desktop systems version

Doug, Is this update compatible with the XPSDimension 400/9150 (DXP051)? It is not listed as compatible on the download site. Thanks.

    Bob

    Bob: Yes, it is compatible.

Audio started working for me again but I'm not quite sure what fixed it because I made many changes before rebooting that time around. It was either instructing it to look for a suitable driver in a fresh copy of Vista on the hard drive, installing and letting Window's reinstall driver several times over again before a doing a reboot, or starting about fifteen services that weren't running that looked related to Plug'n'Play and general program compatibilty, who's descriptions said "if this service is disabled, a bunch of stuff won't work for whatever reason..."

Winamp crashes when I try to use it now but everything else works so I'm happy for the time being.

I'm having the same problem with an XPS 1710 with Vista pre-installed. A full OS re-install does fix the problem but I'm not ready to start from scratch over something like this. I've traced the problem to the Windows Audio Endpoint Service, which fails to start. It gives this error:

"The Windows Audio Endpoint Builder service terminated with the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified."

However it doesn't specify which file it can't find, and all the associated audio driver files apear to exist in the correct locations. The path of the service is "C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe -k LocalSystemNetworkRestricted", and yes, svchost.exe exists. Uninstalling and reinstalling any number of drivers doesn't fix the problem.

I think this started when I tried to install a Logitech webcam which it turned out wasn't compatible with Vista, but I've since removed that softwar, crushed the webcam with a hammer, and am still having no luck. What's a gaming laptop without sound?

I just bought an XPS m1710. I am playing this game C&C3 and the sound is jittering and cracking. I looked for direct x10 with dxdiag to adjust the acceleration but this could not be adjusted and the newest sigmatel drivers just dont solve the problem. Please help me, to just play wtih good sound!

     Thanks, regards

    JP

Just to add a little heat to the fire, I will post. I have been checking this page daily and Dell seems to be moving slowly on the issue. Dell, we need to have the sound we purchased with our laptops. My company is a very large Dell customer and I bought my 6400 for me personally two weeks before Vista and paid for this upgrade. I understand problems happen, but this needs to be resolved now, as you have Vista shipping with Sound Blaster currently. Or you are going to lose a very big customer to a competitor and our Dell Rep has been useless in this situation. End of the month is Monday.

Mine works!  Try this (I apologise to whoever wrote this; I've pasted here):

You may have to add the Run option to the Start Menu...it's not shown by default in Vista. Right click on the Start button and choose "Properties". Under the "Start Menu" tab, click on "Customize" for whichever style menu is selected. Locate "Run Command" in the list and tick the box next to it. Click "Ok" to the open windows then try the following:

Click Start, then Run, type services.msc and click "Ok". Scroll down the list to Windows Audio and double click on it. The Service Status should be "Started" and have "Automatic" as the Startup Type. If it is not set this way, change it and accept the changes.

Now when I did this I got an error message, so Googled some more and got this:

When i try to start the Windows Audio service it fails due to dependant service Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
I try to start this and get an error 0x80070002 stating that a specified file cannot be found..

After trying a number of things, I stopped the SigmaTel service and the was able to start the Windows Audio Endpoint Builder and the subsequently the Windows Audio Service.  Once this was done, I restarted the SigmaTel service and everything worked after that.

In my case, I deleted the Creative SB driver software using the control panel. My Audio service now works...I've my fingers crossed for the rest of you.

Yes the end of the month is here and I would like to have this for my M1710 on Vista x64.

Can we get an update from Dell on the expected availability for the VISTA version of the Sound Blaster Audigy MB Software? - it's getting very close to the end of the month.

    Lonnie Kerchief

    Hi Guys,
Do you have an update on the Vista revision release? We're closing in rapidly on the end of the month. Hitting that deadline would be great, but as always, I'm not holding my breath. =)

I tried the download at the link Bodogbodog gave and still have no sound with my Dimension 9200. Apart from that I (still) experience exactly the same that Nigel C and Wouldlikehelp described. Thanks for any advice.

    Wouldlikehelp
ahhh i keep getting that messege, "The Audio Service is not running". For the love of god can someone please help me fix this. There is no sound and i dont know how to enable it. I am wondering if a disabled a "service" located in 'msconfig' that is causing this problem. Please help.

For those still having sound problems with the VISTA Sigmatel drivers after reinstalling them you may need to make a small configuration change in the sound driver settings to fix delays in Windows Media Centre and sound glitches at the end of tracks - see http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=vista&message.id=25129#M25129

When you say you “plan to offer this software to customers via download for free”, does this mean that a serial is no longer required to use the software and we have no risk of running into invalid serial problems again?

Same problem with a Dimension 9200 here too! I purchased Vista pre-installed, upgraded to the business version of Vista, and now have no audio on my brand-new Dell.

Hi Lionel, I have exactly the same problem as John, above.  Also a Dimension 9200...

I've uninstalled the SigmaTel driver and reinstalled the new version.  I've  also re-installed the Audigy software but I cannot activate it using the activation key supplied. I therefore have no sound on my PC since my Vista upgrade. Whenever I hover over that volume button (with a red circle with an x inside) I get the message "The Audio Service is not running." When I double click, nothing happens. When I right click, I get "playback devices," "recording devices," "sounds" and a grayed out "open volume mixer." So, when I click one of the available options I get the message "This computer cannot play audio because the windows audio service is not enabled" and am prompted to enable the windows audio service, to which Ialways say yes. A new window opens and, of course, it says Sigma High Definition Audio CODEC is working. Unfortunately still no sound of any kind, and when I go back to the volume control, I simply repeat the
    process.

Lionel, I have a Dimension 9200 and downloaded the driver for the XPS 400/9150 with a Dimension being on the list of compatible machines. However, the sound card still doesn't seem to work. Is there yet another driver program or has something gone wrong at this end? I appreciate your help.

Rohit: No, you will not have to pay for the Vista version of the Sound Blaster Audigy MB software.

I bought an XPS M1710 directly from Dell in August 2006. This came with the Sound Blaster Audigy MB software CD and license for Win XP. I use this software a lot and am used to it.

Will I have to pay for the Vista compatible version of this software, and if so, how much will it be?

I did NOT get the Vista upgrade from Dell (I bought vista myself from a 3rd party). My hardware warrenty with Dell is through end of 2009

Lionel, thank you for the link. I hadn't noticed earlier that Doug is an Audio Systems Engineer for laptops. Reasonable then that he would post a link to laptop systems. Can you confirm that the Sound Blaster Audigy MB software that he refers to as being available when testing is completed,  is the same as for the  desktops?  If not, will it be available at the same time. Thanks for your help on this.

    Bob

why is DELL not taking care of the customers?

Great news to hear this. Clear communicatino is to be applauded, and even better the news within is good too. Just a shame tech support don't (appear to) have access to this information.

    Doug,

The link to the driver you posted is not compatible with my XPS400/9150. I assume that the different driver listed for my computer R147075 is also meant to be covered by your post. please let us know if this is NOT correct. You know what they say about assume............?  Thanks for the information. Look forward to the download. Thanks for bringing us up to date on this matter.

Bob: My apologies for the delay. I talked this over with Doug, and will update the post shortly to include the link to the desktop driver. You can download the driver for the XPS 400/ 9150 at this link.

Please be sure to advise those of us who purchased computers with Vista pre-installed by Dell .

We would like to have a fully-functional audio system too.

    WhatsUpDell

    Doug,

It'd good to see you posting on Direct2Dell. Especially with good news.

Thank you for letting us know what's going on with the Advanced MB for Vista.

glad too hear something is coming about some of the issues.
