Click-through-rate, or CTR, is the metric in paid advertising campaigns that shows how many people who viewed the ad actually clicked on it. Advertisers use this metric to determine whether ad targeting and/or landing page copy is effective.

Why Do You Need to Understand CTR?

CTR is a commonly used metric in paid advertising on Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, and other ad platforms. If the percentage of people viewing an ad who actually click on it is low, it may mean the targeting is too broad. If the CTR is high, but the percentage of people who click converting to buyers or subscribers is low, the ad copy may need to be more specific.

CTR is an important indicator of ad effectiveness.
