Can I use a G738T Dell 350w psu in a Optiplex 5050?

I want to upgrade from a 180w psu to a 350w G738T psu, but I don't know about compatibility.

@redxps630 Do atx 24pin to dell 6pin motherboard connectors work?

@redxps630 Would the G738T CPU power connector work with the OptiPlex 5050 CPU power socket?

it does not work that way.  when the mobo power sw is flipped, the 24 pin when connected to a mobo sends a signal to the psu to turn on which then supplies power to the 4 pin and sata power etc.  you would not be able to use the 4 pin connector of a psu without connecting the 24 pin connector first to a compatible mobo.

@redxps630 Whoops! What I mean is, does the Optiplex 5050 cpu power socket work with any other 4 pin cpu power connecter? Or is it also propriety and I need a adapter? My bad for the confusion

the cpu socket is standard not proprietary.
