Alienware Tri-Mode Wireless Gaming Headset - AW920H - Review

Hello, All!

I just received my AW920H and thought I would tell you about it.  I've had it a couple of hours so mine is not broken yet.  (search and see other reports)

To be clear, I am comparing these to my Bose Quiet Comfort Headphones.

The AW920H pairs quickly with the Blue tooth, or with the 2.4GHz dongle.  The AW920H dongle is DIFFERENT than the AW720M mouse dongle.  The headphone dongle is helpfully labled AW920H.  It also has a light ring.  So, if you use the two Alienware peripherals, you have two dongles hanging out the back of your machine.  I dislike this, and they may be easily broken.  Note - I do not install my laptop permanently on a desk.

The AW920H comes with a soft storage bag, a USB A to C adaptor, a USB C dongle, an audio cord, and a USB A & C cable.  If you have to use the A to C adaptor on your machine, it makes the dongle hang out that much further.

For operation - You may read the manual, so I will cover what I like.   The Touchpad on the right earpiece is nice.   You can turn the volume up or down, or move the tracks, with a swipe.  A triple tap also mutes the microphone.

The microphone is adequate.   I am also a ham radio operator and I have had much better in ham headsets, especially its ability to filter out other noise.

Headphones themselves.  The sound is very good, especially with the Dolby Atmos program.  Music plays quite nicely and the highs and lows come through well.   If the Bose QC are 100%, this headset is 90%.

The ANC (Automatic Noise Control) is not as good as the Bose QC.  However, if someone were to talk to you or the dogs bark, you would know it and I suppose that is a good thing.  I do not believe it would completely shut out loud noises outside your house.

I am concerned about the AW920H breaking as there have been so many reports.   I am disappointed to read that, as my Bose QC headphones have been on so many business trips and they put up with being jammed in the computer bag and tossed on the bed.   I don't believe I would try that with these.
